Places to visit in Cairo Egypt
- Egyptian Museum
The top thing to do in Cairo is to go to the Egyptian Museum. If the number of people who go there is any indication, it is one of the most visited places in Cairo, only second to the Great Pyramids of Giza.
The museum has more than 100,000 items from ancient Egypt on display, making it the most extensive collection of Egyptian artifacts in the world. But keep in mind that not all of the museum’s exhibits are on view at the same time.
- Giza complex
You can only say you’ve been to Egypt if you’ve seen the Pyramids of Giza. The mysterious Sphinx and the Great Pyramids of Giza can be seen in Giza Necropolis, which is close to Cairo.
The main things to see at the site are the three pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure from three dynasties.
- Khan El Khalili Bazaar
The world-famous Khan El Khalili market is in Old Cairo, in the Islamic neighborhood.
At the bazaar, tourists and locals can find almost anything they want, from clothes and souvenirs to food and a growing number of coffee shops.
- Coptic Cairo
It is a part of Cairo with a lot of history and where most of Egypt’s Christians live. Many religious buildings exist, such as the Hanging Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue (also known as the Church of Santa Mara).
- Cairo Tower
Cairo Tower it is the tallest building in Cairo and the tallest one in all of North Africa. It is more than 180 meters tall, and its building material, granite, is the same as that of ancient Egyptian buildings. You can go there, and if you get to the top, you’ll have a great view of the surrounding area.
